The dance of El Pocho is performed in the Maya town of Tenosique and in neighboring villages for Carnival and the feast day of San Sebastián. The performance relates to hunting and agriculture and included several dozen dancers divided into three groups. One of the, known as Los Cojos, wears very crude masks and often tie fresh or dried leaves around their shins to signify a good harvest for their crops.
This Cojo mask has a mended crack as seen in the last photo. The mask has been wired to hang on the wall. Mask has 3 drilled holes (1 center top and 1 on either side) for wearing
